Wanderburg Vehicles, Biomes, and Unlocks

See the Wanderburg vehicles and biomes confirmed in Build 0.9.9, how Steam achievements track unlocks, and which unlock conditions still need testing.

Official Build 0.9.9 sources confirm Tower and Spider as player vehicles, Spiderburg and Tankenburg as named vehicle unlock achievements, and Grassland, Dark Forest, and Desert as current biome names. They do not publish every unlock step, so this guide separates confirmed progression markers from routes that still require in-game verification.

Confirmed vehicles and vehicle milestones

The 0.9.9 hotfix explicitly calls Tower and Spider “player vehicles” and says both received driving adjustments that make them faster in earlier or base levels. The same post nerfs Spider speed upgrades, so handling observations from 0.9.7 or earlier should be retested.

Steam's achievement list separately includes Spiderburg unlocked and Tankenburg unlocked. These prove that both named unlock milestones exist, but their public descriptions do not state the exact actions required. The 0.9.8 hotfix also added safety measures for a Spider player-vehicle loadout freeze, which is relevant when diagnosing a progression loadout problem but is not an unlock instruction.

Do not assume that every use of “Spider” and “Spiderburg” or “Tower” in different official contexts defines the entire vehicle roster. Record the exact label shown in the current game when testing an unlock and include the build in any correction.

Confirmed biomes and difficulty changes

The public achievements confirm unlock milestones for Dark Forest and Desert. Official hotfixes also name Grassland, Dark Forest, and Desert directly:

  • 0.9.6 added health pickups to Grassland 1, changed enemy composition in Grassland 3 and Dark Forest 2 and 3, reduced Grassland 1 damage, and reduced Difficulty 1 Dark Tower health.
  • 0.9.8 iterated on Desert Overtime and changed the Overtime Mortar.
  • 0.9.9 made Grassland Difficulty 2 “Meadows” easier and slightly nerfed Taurus Drillus in Grassland 2.

These notes establish current places and changes, not complete biome maps. Enemy tables, boss routes, and exact access requirements need current-build observation before they can become separate strategy pages.

Use achievements as progression checkpoints

The safest public checklist is: watch for the Desert and Dark Forest achievements when those biomes unlock, and the Spiderburg and Tankenburg achievements when those vehicle milestones unlock. Steam Cloud and the public achievement page make those account-level results easier to verify than a remembered menu state.

Hotfix 0.9.9 says the first-win and all-biomes victory checks were fixed after the September 10 warning about Overtime. This makes 0.9.9 the correct minimum boundary for checking victory progression described here. See the Achievements guide for the complete list and rebalanced counters.

What persists between runs

Steam describes modules, vehicles, artifacts, and captains as unlockable options that widen later builds. That confirms persistent variety, but it does not say that every item is unlocked in the same way or at the same pace. Treat a completed unlock as a new option for future runs, then record what changed in the loadout or selection screen.

This page will split into standalone vehicle or biome databases only when the roster, access conditions, and current-build behavior can be verified without padding. Until then, keeping the related progression questions together gives players one honest answer boundary.

Separate a vehicle name from an unlock condition

An official hotfix can establish that Tower or Spider is a player vehicle because it describes their driving behavior. An achievement can establish that Spiderburg or Tankenburg has an unlock milestone. Neither source, by itself, explains the menu path, prerequisite, run count, currency cost, or exact action that unlocks the option.

When testing, capture the progression state before the milestone, the completed run or encounter, the message shown afterward, and the newly available loadout. Repeat the sequence on the same build when possible. If several things changed during the run, report all of them rather than choosing one as the cause. This keeps a correlation from becoming a false unlock guide.

The distinction also protects URL stability. Once a complete vehicle roster and verified conditions exist, a dedicated vehicle page can inherit the confirmed material from this guide. Until then, this page answers the honest public question—what is confirmed now—without publishing a mostly empty database.

Separate a biome milestone from a biome strategy

Steam achievements prove that Dark Forest and Desert have unlock events. Patch notes prove that specific Grassland, Dark Forest, and Desert states changed. A strategy guide needs more: map structure, enemy pressure, objective order, boss behavior, difficulty differences, and a route tested on the current build.

For now, use the patch record to identify version-sensitive areas. A pre-0.9.8 Desert Overtime route may no longer behave the same. Grassland Difficulty 2 advice should account for the easier Meadows change in 0.9.9. Dark Forest observations that depend on enemy density should identify whether they came before or after the 0.9.6 composition adjustment.

This method still helps a player. It tells you exactly which old claims need rechecking and which milestone can be confirmed through Steam, while refusing to invent a route that the available evidence cannot support.

Report progression with a clean timeline

Record the displayed build, starting vehicle and biome access, the run result, whether Overtime was entered, the achievement notification, and what appeared in the next loadout. For a freeze or missing option, also state whether Steam Cloud synchronized and whether a restart changed the menu.

Build 0.9.8 added safety measures for the Spider loadout freeze, and 0.9.9 fixed victory achievement checks. Mentioning that history lets a report show whether a named issue persists beyond its documented fix. Do not delete saves or use an unofficial unlock tool as a diagnostic step; it removes the clean official state needed to reproduce the problem.

Sources and version boundary

Persistent progression comes from the official Steam store description. Names and public milestones come from Steam Global Achievements. Vehicle and biome changes come from the official 0.9.6–0.9.9 hotfixes, checked September 12, 2026.
