Unlock Spiderburg by defeating all four bosses in Desert 1, Golden Dunes, then complete its vehicle purchase and make two different Top modules permanently available. The community vehicle reference lists a 2,500-Silver chassis price. If Spiderburg already appears but asks for another Top module, work on that module purchase: clearing Golden Dunes again does not fill the missing equipment category.

Complete the unlock in this order

  1. Open Golden Dunes, the first Desert Land, from your available map progression. If it is still locked, read that Land's displayed prerequisite before starting another run.
  2. Complete the four-boss objective in Golden Dunes. Use the Land's boss progress rather than a cumulative Steam boss-kill achievement as your checklist.
  3. Return to vehicle selection and open Spiderburg. Check the completed unlock task and the displayed purchase price; the published community price is 2,500 Silver.
  4. In the permanent Modules collection, count usable Top options. Obtain a second distinct Top module if only one is available.
  5. Select one starting Top weapon, then add the second Top weapon through the module choices during the run.

The Golden Dunes objective is documented in a September 13 walkthrough, which also describes the post-unlock module warning. The price is from the community vehicle reference. Steam's public achievement confirms the Spiderburg milestone; the walkthrough and player reports supply the practical steps.

Why does it ask for a second Top module?

Two permanent Top options and two equipped starting weapons are different things. Players in the original Steam help thread explain that you start with one Top weapon, then obtain the other during the map. You still need two distinct Top modules permanently unlocked so the second position can receive a compatible choice.

Check the small castle-and-arrow icon on a module card: a September 30 reply identifies the arrow's position as the slot indicator. This is a useful way to check the category without relying on a name that sounds like a tower.

Item you are countingDoes it provide another Top option?
Top MortarYes: it is a Top module.
Fire MageYes: it is another Top module.
Archer TowerYes: a Top module, distinct from Archer Crew.
Archer Crew or fire archers in CrewNo: Crew is a separate selection.
A Side moduleNo: Spiderburg's reported layout has no Side position.

If you own Top Mortar and Archer Crew, count one Top option. If you own Top Mortar and Fire Mage, count two. The September 8–30 Steam discussion contains the category correction, the in-run second-module explanation, and the later slot-icon tip.

Plan the purchase before spending your Silver

If your next goal is to play Spiderburg, reserve currency for the chassis and the missing Top module. Do this before buying an unrelated Captain or a Side weapon that the new chassis cannot equip.

For example, 2,500 Silver for Spiderburg + the published 2,000-Silver Fire Mage price = 4,500 Silver if you need both purchases. If Fire Mage is already owned, the same example leaves only the chassis purchase. These are purchase-budget calculations from published references; check the live purchase panel for your balance and current prices. Fire Mage's listed cost comes from the September 9 module report.

An Archer Tower already unlocked on your account may provide the missing Top option without buying Fire Mage. Choose the Top weapon you intend to use, not simply the first expensive item in the shop. The Silver guide separates one-time quest rewards from ordinary run income.

Build around the changed slots

The reported Spiderburg layout is two Top, one Front, one Back, and no Side. A Side Cannon build therefore needs a new damage plan when you switch vehicles. One documented arrangement is Lightning Mage and Fire Mage in Top, Teleporter in Front, and Dash in Back.

Choose the first Top weapon for the early part of the run, then add the second as its position becomes available. Keep a movement tool for leaving a crowded fight. The build guide provides the starting selections, upgrade priorities, and alternatives for this mage arrangement. If your existing Side weapon is doing most of the damage, keep the earlier vehicle while preparing the new Top weapons.

The official 0.9.8 update added safeguards for the Spider loadout freeze and asked affected players to test them. A separate September 27–October 6 thread reports game or GPU crashes when Spiderburg is selected, including on preview before unlocking it. Treat a responsive purchase warning separately from a closed game; buying another module addresses the first symptom.

If selection still crashes, note preview versus selection versus Start Run, installed version, GPU, and graphics launch choice. Repeat the same action after one change and retain the result. Keep your save intact while reporting the failure through the official community links.
